Exceptionally relaxing and luxurious. Cruising Prince William Sound gives the best views of scenery and wildlife, good food along the way, and a place to duck into cover when the weather turns ugly (it probably will). Filled an entire memory card with pictures, 1000+ of them! Great cruise area.
Mongolia is an experience – limitless vistas, unspoiled nature, and the feeling you really have gotten away from it all. Went fishing on a lark. Facilities are a little spare by US standards, but that adds a little back-in-the-day adventure. Caught several fish I didn't recognize and one medium pike – very worth it!
My two favorites: Ouzel Falls Trail and the Loch Lake Trail. Both moderate difficulty, both 5-6 miles, and both with incredible lake/waterfall scenery. My wife said the birding was great too, but I was really into the hiking. Weather can get crazy in the blink of an eye, which is part of the appeal for me!
Orca whales! Only time I've ever seen them up close, or as close as I wanted to get, which was about 100 yards away. Beautiful weather, in spring it was crisp with a breeze but very clear and bright. Love the area, great visual beauty. Very highly recommended!
From the outside this looks too high-traffic and urban to be a good dive, but underneath it's a treat. AMAZING fish diversity and the octopuses are friendly and ready for camera close ups. Protected location means it's all weather, so don't worry about missing dive days when it storms. Excellent diving!
This is a sights and sounds caving experience, not an adventure one and I love it! Lots of minerals, crystals, weird flowing formations that the guide explained but I forgot the names of – very impressive! Two recommendations: make a reservation and don't bring your camera (no photos allowed).
Went for a late afternoon/night dive, beautiful, beautiful reef to explore – lots of colorful reef fish, garden eels, and green sea turtles. Mantas came out at night, tons of them and all graceful and serene. Morays at night also and they're aggressive feeders, Keahole was a wonderful show.
We've done plenty of whale watching in Hawaii, Bay of Biscay was a worthwhile change. Sea transit was much rougher, we hit a couple storms going from Portsmouth to Bilbao – be ready for some waves! But we saw fin whales and lots of different sea birds, too many to keep track of. Recommend.
We've been 4-5 times and still feel like we've only scratched the surface of what there is to do. Hiking, fishing, camping, those calls are easy to make, so do them. Not everyone knows about Going-to-the-Sun Road, which is one of the best scenic mountain drives in the US – set aside part of a day and you won't regret it.
Wild Cave tour is not just a leisurely walk underground, the ranger had us on our bellies traversing some pretty intense spaces – there's crawling, climbing, squeezing through tight places, hiking, total darkness... an actual caving experience for first timers! I'm not ready for the real deal but this was GREAT!!!
