One of the world's great multi-day walks, the Inca trail offers breathtaking scenery, captivating ruins and the opportunity to witness sunrise over Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate. If you can't secure a permit for the Inca Trail, then the Lares Trek is a great alternative, with the chance to interact with the local communities a bit more.
The streets of Granada are a really charismatic place to wander, with lots of colonial architectural gems to discover, blending with distinctly Nicaraguan influences.
El Chalten is a great spot for trekkers, with outstanding trails beneath Mount Fitzroy to explore! My favourite is undoubtedly the Laguna De los Tres trek, with absolutely stunning scenery and up-close glacier encounters.
This picturesque tourist town has almost completely been taken over by tourism, but it makes for a good base for visiting Perito Moreno and the Los Glaciares National Park and is a pleasant place to wander.
Watching the condors ride the thermals here is a real highlight, but the hanging tombs of Choquetico and Litomaquetas are also worth visiting and there's great hiking throughout the canyon.
This is a chocoholic's paradise! The streets of Bariloche are packed with artisan chocolate and ice-cream shops, and the surrounding lakes and mountains give you plenty of opportunity to work it all off!
I love this area of Belize - not just for its natural beauty and great scuba diving, but the distinct culture that is a complete contrast from the rest of Central America.
Even though Arenal is in a period of dormancy, it's still a magnificent area to visit and there's lots of eco-adventure activities through the surrounding rainforest.
Even though Zanzibar is well and truly on the tourist track, it's still an undeniably charming place. Loved the night market in Stone Town and just wandering the ancient streets, and the Indian Ocean beaches are picture perfect! Great diving too!
This province stretches from the rugged coast to the mountainous border with Lesotho and I love the mix of surfing, wildlife viewing, rural culture and the buzz of Durban.
