Our most active hiking tour of Brazil ventures into the heart of Chapada Diamantia National Park, in the State of Bahia and then continues south to the golden beaches of Rio de Janeiro. Designed as an active Brazil vacation, we are strategically based in comfortable, charming pousadas nestled into the quaint villages surrounding Chapada and at boutique hotels in Salvador and Rio de Janeiro.
In one of the most spectacular and well-kept secret hiking areas in the world, follow ancient mining trails that were used up until the 1970's by men hunting for diamonds and gold in these ancient mountains. Experience the heart of the wild and fully disconnect while spending two nights in remote guest houses in the heart of Chapada Diamantia National Park. Follow the Paty Valley Trail through a stunning and magical landscape comprised of table top mountains, canyons, valleys, caves, hidden electric blue pools and the most impressive Brazilian waterfalls! Optional hikes to mountains and lookouts afford spectacular views of sheer rock walls, undulating rivers, fields of wild flowers and small mining towns that seems to have been lost in time. We end our time in Bahia, back in the capitol: Salvador, the heart of Afro-Brazilian culture. Here we have the chance to mingle with locals, and experience the music, dance and food that is the underpinning of Bahian traditions.
Continue on to Rio de Janeiro where we visit the famous Sugar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer Statue atop Corcovado Mountain. Explore the sunsoked beach of Copacabana and let the upbeat Samba notes fill your ears as the night begins in this festive city!
