Tasmania – Australia

Wildlife Viewing - Australia - Oceania

Tasmania, an isolated island state off Australia’s south coast, is known for its vast, rugged wilderness areas, largely protected within parks and reserves. It is located 240 km to the south of the Australian mainland, separated by Bass Strait. The main island is the 26th largest island in the world. Two of the main industries have been forestry and tourism as well as the export of seafood.

Tassie so often gets overlooked by visitors to Australia, but in my opinion its one of the most beautiful destinations. A huge chunk of the island is protected wilderness and there's a great gastronomy scene and artistic festivals throughout the year.
