Similan Islands, Thailand
The nine islands are located 84km north-east of Phuket. Situated in the clear blue waters of the Andaman Sea, it is a very popular spot for diving as well as yachts and tour boats. Each of the nine islands has a number and a name and some are also part of the Similian Park. The islands themselves are low-lying and covered with thick forests and are home to many different types of birds and animals such as the crab-eating monkeys and the dusky langurs. The forests, beaches, and boulders make the scene breathtaking at first but the real magic takes place in the sea. The islands are open for visits during October and May each year.
