Polynesia
Polynesia is a Greek word meaning “many islands”, and it certainly lives up to its name, with over 1000 small islands spread throughout the Pacific Ocean. One particularly interesting thing for tourists is that these islands are owned by many different countries, giving a taste of many different cultures. One of the most famous islands, Easter Island, is home to the Moai, human statues carved by the Rapa Nui people. There are over 800 statues, the tallest of which is 33ft tall (10 meters) and weighs 82 tons. It is certainly a magnificent sight to behold. Easter Island has been name a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Other activities include snorkelling, visiting pearl farms, and visiting the many local markets the different islands offer.
