Lake Nasser, Egypt
A product of the construction of the famous Aswan Dam, Lake Nasser is one of the world’s largest manmade lakes, and one of Egypt’s most popular tourist destinations. Spotting cruise ships sailing down the reservoir is fairly common, and some lucky travelers can also hope for a Nile crocodile sighting. The banks of Lake Nasser are lined by numerous historic monuments and sites, many of which can be visited as part of a tour. Visits to the Philae Temple, Kalabsha Temple, Qasr Ibm and Ancient Nubia feature on most Lake Nasser itineraries, as do activities like fishing and enjoying the charismatic desert landscapes along its banks.
