Hutt River, New Zealand

Fishing - New Zealand - Oceania

A broad, shallow, braided river with a rocky bed, the Hutt commands a 56 kilometer stretch of floodplains in New Zealand’s North Island. The Hutt River Trail is a popular tourist attraction, offering a pleasant 29 kilometer walking or cycling experience along the banks of the river. The trail is dotted with pockets of activity, ranging from trout fishing and swimming, to camping, to visiting the parks and nature reserves on the way. One can even find four golf courses off the Hutt River Trail. The Hutt River makes for an experience unlike the rest of rugged New Zealand. The quiet, peaceful, tree lined stretches adjoining still clear waters, are perfect for a quiet retreat.
