Spanish Colonial Influence meets repeated pirate invasion in the costal city of Granada, Nicaragua. Known for it’s beautiful Spanish cathedrals, Granada is a hotspot for religious significance. Inglecia la Merced is one of those churches. You can climb up the historic bell tower to watch the sun set over the city. Another must see Cathedral, featuring towering European influenced architecture, is the Catedral de Granada. Tours are available of the Mombacho Volcano, an active volcano almost a mile high. Take a boat tour of the Islets de Granada. You’ll enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains, and tranquil islands.
