I travelled through Namibia as part of a longer South/East African safari and at first it wasn't really on my radar. But I was blown away by the beauty of its landscapes (many of which are quite harsh and remote) and the photographic opportunities here are sensational.
The shipwrecks along this remote stretch of Atlantic Coast are spectacular and a photographer's dream. Come late in the day when the lighting is at its most atmospheric and setting along the horizon.
One of my favourite places in Africa! The Okavango Delta is just incredible - from flying over its flooded landscapes and watching herds of wildlife below, to cruising between its islands in a mokoro canoe and watching sunset over the "Hippo Pool"!
The Masai Mara offers outstanding wildlife viewing at any time of year, but the Great Wildebeest Migration really turns it up a notch. They cross over the notorious, crocodile-infested Mara River from the Serengeti around September, with great herds of wildebeest, zebras and opportunistic predators on the plains of the Masai Mara in October/November.
The traffic can be crazy and the streets a bit chaotic, but Kampala is quite a manageable capital with a big transport hub to get you to destinations across Uganda and into the surrounding East African countries.
Watched a spectacular sunset behind Fish River Canyon from one of the viewpoints, transforming the colours dramatically. But i'd love to go back and do some trekking along the canyon floor one day.
Tassie so often gets overlooked by visitors to Australia, but in my opinion its one of the most beautiful destinations. A huge chunk of the island is protected wilderness and there's a great gastronomy scene and artistic festivals throughout the year.
The Overland Track is a Tassie legend - repeatedly voted one of the best multi-day walks in Australia. It takes you through spectacular alpine landscapes and is as much about the camaraderie with other trekkers as the scenery.
This is a really spectacular walk amidst a dramatic landscape - but go either early in the morning or late afternoon as the heat of the day can be unbearable!
I grew up in Adelaide and used to holiday here as a kid. It's got a big of everything - beautiful beaches, a great food and wine scene, and plenty of wildlife spotting - although I remember seeing far more seals than kangaroos!
