Your company was absolutely outstanding and extremely professional! Thanks so much. Although I don’t really enjoy boats at all, the experience aboard the MV Grigory Mikheev was fabulous. Rolf, the shipboard lecturer, was an amazing leader who always emphasized safety first. Thanks to Myths and Mountains, I’ve now made it to all seven continents!”

We've been back from Tibet for a week now and I didn't want another day to go by without writing to thank you, praise you, and otherwise bow down to you for planning such an incredible trip for us! Everything was perfect, and all ten of us repeatedly commented on the outstanding planning and attention to detail that you and your staff at Myths and Mountains put forth on our behalf. In particular, we must praise both Penba Tashi and Ananta in Tibet. They are truly amazing guides and the quality of our trip was in large part due to their incredible patience, helpfulness, knowledge and so on. They were amazing!
Big hug and many thanks,
~Susan

We have had a fabulous time in Kerala. It is a wondrous place, and we would come back here in a heartbeat. Drivers, guides, hotels have all worked out just fine. Estelle and Mike were with us for a week, and they are now on their own for another week or so at an Ayurvedic clinic near Kumily and Thekkady. Mike was a Peace Corps volunteer in Jaipur '65 - '67, worked for the Bank of America in Mumbai '68 - '74, and had an importing business with a partner in Bangalore '75 - '86. He has not been back to India since 1986, and Estelle has never been, so it was wonderful seeing Kerala through Mike's memory-filled eyes, and Estelle's fresh eyes. Thanks ever so much for planning our Asia itinerary the way you did. I don't think I'd change a bit.
Blessings one and all,
~Lorain and Bill

We had a great time in Bhutan. We enjoyed Sonam and Jigme, our guide and driver respectively. The Monasteries and dzongs were really interesting and some - the Temple for Peace near Punakha and Tiger's Lair - were spectacular. Can't wait to travel again with Myths and Mountains.

Thanks for helping me & my friend Mike to put together a visit to Cambodia a year ago – it’s changed my life. That trip has since rekindled my enthusiasm for SE Asia to the point that I enrolled at Ohio University this fall to work on another Masters, this one in International Studies with a focus on SE Asia. Looking over your latest trip listings, I am glad to see you are running one in NE Thailand. This is where I did my post-Cambodia archaeological field work last year. It's a remarkable region archaeologically, but rather off the main track for tourists. I'm especially glad to see you're visiting Phimai. The Khmer temple there is extremely significant and beautifully restored; the temples at Phnom Rung and Muang Tham are also wonderful. Myths and Mountains creates amazing itineraries. Looking forward to my Peru trip next year – this time, I am bringing my son with me to hike the Inca Trail!

It's a joy to recall what we did on your Textiles and Wildlife tour! We did so much, so fast, in so many places that your expertise and thoughtfulness made our trip informed, relaxed, flexible and, from textiles to tigers, terrific fun!
When people ask about India I cannot answer succinctly: there is just too much to say. In recalling some of my memories, I stammer verbosely about the enormity, diversity, and immediacy of life in India and yet how, underneath and unspoken, there is a feeling of acceptance and peace. That is what I felt.
But what I saw, over and over again, was transformation from dark to light: the weaver crouched in his earthen room weaving lustrous gold and turquoise silk; the Bengalese women arched gracefully over the emerald green in their butterfly spectrum of saffron, scarlet, and crimson saris; the silver shrouded pyre burning orange into the black of night; the starry candles bobbing peacefully away, white light floating towards eternity. And, rising from the murky depths, the lotus blooming full face towards the sun.
India for me is as intriguing as tying a sari . . . at once beautiful and confounding! But most of all, what we shared, is unforgettable. Before I left a friend gave me a tiny book of Indian poetry, Gitanjali Song Offerings by Rabindranath Tagore. She said he was famous. I'd never heard of him. I read it when I got home:
When I go from hence let this be my parting word, that what I have seen is unsurpassable. I have tasted of the hidden honey of this lotus that expands on the ocean of light, and thus I am blessed--let this be my parting word.

I just wanted to take a moment to tell you that my trip was absolutely wonderful! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Quang, my guide in the north, was fantastic. He truly went out of his way to make sure I saw everything I was interested in seeing. You put together a great program just for me and I am very grateful. When talking to other travelers, I felt that I saw and experienced a lot more than they did. Thank you, Myths and Mountains.

We did it, though there was never any doubt! Let me compliment you on all of the arrangements your company made. Everything worked smoothly. We were met when we were supposed to be, driven where needed and generally accommodated along the way. Superb all the way through. The jewel in the crown, to wax very corny, is Bagh Van. Saw two tigers on two separate occasions, one from elephant back and the other from the jeep. The owners, the clientele and the staff were helpful and fun. We even partied and joked with them one night.
Best to you and the rest of your magnificent staff

| "Paul and I have finally returned and managed to open all of our wedding gifts. Finally, we can get around to sending you a note to tell you how great our bike trip was - it was, simply put, a trip of a lifetime. Our honeymoon couldn't have been more special. Our guide, Loek was amazing. He was fun, reliable, knowledgeable - but most of all he was great to travel with. We had a ball from beginning to end. And the weather was on our side too." |
