Zambezi River, Southern Africa

Kayaking - South Africa - Africa

The beautiful Zambezi River located in Southern Africa gracefully flows into the Indian Ocean. It is the fourth longest river in Africa and is well known for it’s beautiful waterfall features along its scenic route. Specifically Victoria Falls, Chavuma Falls, and Ngonye Falls. Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe are partly powered by hydroelectric sources built on this powerful river. The Zambezi is home to many species of carnivores that can be found including the lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted hyena, and many more. Migratory waterbirds enjoy the floodplains such as pintails, garganey, African openbill, wattled crane, and the great white pelican. Butterflies and reptiles can be found in plenty in this dynamic area. It has never been an important long-distance transport route due to the frequent rapids that are in plenty along this river.
