Shurakuen Fishing Hole, Japan

Fishing - Japan - Asia

Hidden amid the hubbub of Japan’s capital Tokyo, the Shurakuen fishing hole is a gem that merits a visit, even if fishing isn’t your primary interest. An idyllic little retreat where one can forget the city while remaining within it, the Shurakuen fishing hole is a mere 750 square feet in area, but is home to plenty of wild Japanese Carp. Deemed to be about 400 years old, the pond was originally part of a larger estate, and continues to be privately owned today. A typical day at Shurakuen involves sitting around the pond waiting for the fish to bite and losing yourself in the quiet bliss of the quaint surroundings.
