Originating in the Daen Lao Range in Thailand the Mae Taeng River is known for it’s grade 3-5 rapids. The beautiful and rugged Mae Taeng Valley is situated in the North Eastern corner of the Chiang Mai Province, just and hour and a half from downtown Chiang Mai. Stunning, yet situated in the midst of thick jungle foliage, this area is home to many hill tribe people. In addition, you can find a large population of elephants and other abundant and eye-catching wildlife as you make it down the river whether it be on the river or on foot.
