Machu Picchu’s Little Sister: The Choquequirao & Apurimac Trek

Trek Peru through meandering trails...

This in-depth visit to Cusco's Sacred Valley culminates with a challenging five-day trek to Choquequirao & Apurimac Canyons. The ruins at Choquequirao are only partly excavated and receive far few tourists than the legendary Inca Trail Trek, yet its architecture and structure are quite similar in characteristics.

No trains or buses lead to this area, so the only way to get here is by foot! To get here, you must travel through the Apurimac Canyon, which in the local dialect, Quechua, means The Talking God, in reference to the fact that there are so many mountains in the area nestled so closely together that the mountains seem to be talking to the heavens.

There'll be time to acclimate in the Sacred Valley before beginning the trek, which meanders through gorges and remote villages on narrow trails and footbridges.
